Border: An Instant Cult Classic

We have a unique cult classic for Wednesday!

Border Cert 15 1h 50min 7pm Eldon Building Screening Room 1.10 Wednesday 22 January

A fascinating dark tale of identity crisis and bizarre romance like something out of a fever dream, Border is the new movie from writer John Lindqvist of Let The Right One In, 2008’s moody and sinister horror hit about alienation and love. Border follows the ostracised Tina, a customs officer, whose beastly and uncanny anatomy allows her to smell the fear of people illegally smuggling contraband. Off duty, she lives a secluded yet domesticated life in a house deep in to the woods, caught in the mundane trivialities of her co-dependent relationship with her boyfriend. However, when a stranger resembling her beastly features enters her life, she is swept into a folk romance full of strange tales and unsettling discoveries.

“The result is a kind of gothic romance that wouldn’t look out of place in Guillermo del Toro’s oeuvre.” – Eric Kohn, IndieWire

Border is a slice of modern Gothic: a far out midnight movie which delivers on the WTF-ery while maintaining a surprisingly big and generous heart.” – John Bleasdale, CineVue
